Hello my dear reader. Hope you're doing fine. For me, I'm still French and still weirded out by some strange Americanisms : ranch dressing everywhere, lacrosse, presidents over 80, and most importantly today, pickleball. I hope you play tennis, otherwise you might be unhappy with my opinion. Here is my poetic two cents as a foreigner.
Pickleball, I have nothing against you—but today
I say to you with respect: please go away
I’m happy you exist for the old heads who wanna play
But I stay out of my sight, cause you really don’t slayUmpire just hit their serve out, like a clown
You're getting smashed and pounded after every rebound
Watching this is so, so embarrassing
Please, please let Tennis be King!
In all seriousness, pickleball is a chance for a lot of people to play and I appreciate that. Sport is an important part of everyone's health and bringing new people into the fold is always good. Hopefully, new pickleball places can be built around the city without destroying the current tennis infrastructure. My final word will be a small observation : pickleball is a very American sport.
